The big game is almost here! Make your Super Bowl party one to remember with these party planning recipes and tips.
1) Serve Something Sweet
Make an addicting sweet treat at home with this popcorn snack mix. Homemade Popcorn Snack Mix Ingredients:
- 7 quarts plain popped popcorn
- 2 cups dry roasted peanuts (optional)
- 2 cups Chex cereal (optional)
- 2 cups brown sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup margarine
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Place the popped popcorn into two shallow greased baking pans. Add the peanuts and Chex to the popped corn if desired. Set aside. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, margarine and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring enough to blend. Bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes while stirring constantly. Remove mixture from heat, and add in the baking soda and vanilla. The mixture should be light and foamy. Immediately pour over the popcorn in the pans, and stir to coat. Don’t worry about getting all of the popcorn coated. Bake for 1 hour, removing the pans and giving them each a good stir every 15 minutes. Line the counter top with waxed paper. Dump the popcorn out onto the waxed paper and separate the pieces. Allow to cool completely and serve! Bonus points for serving on a football-themed display tray. Inspired by: http://allrecipes.com/
2) Beer! Beer! And More Beer!
Did you know that on average 325.5 million gallons of beer will be consumed on Superbowl Sunday? Yep that’s a lot of beer! Don’t deny your party guest this Super Bowl necessity. We recommend having plenty of beer on hand and a wide variety to accommodate everyone’s taste. Maybe even have beer specific to the areas playing in the Super Bowl.
3) Serve Something Salty
Make this salty snack at home, bonus points if you serve it with dip! Homemade Soft Pretzels Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 tsp. yeast
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
Dissolve the yeast in ¾ cup warm water. Sift and measure out the flour. Sift together the flour, salt and sugar; stir this into the yeast mixture with a wooden spoon. Start kneading the dough with your hands until the dry mixture is absorbed. Divide dough into equal parts and shape. Grease cookie sheet. Place each pretzel carefully on the cookie sheet. Beat one egg with 1 teaspoon of water. Paint this mixture on the top of each pretzel. Sprinkle salt onto the top of each pretzel. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. This makes about 12 pretzels.
4) Score a Touchdown with Decorations
Don’t just serve awesome, homemade food at your party make football themed displays for the food! Go all out with this football snack stadium. Or if you want an easy way to decorate try out these free football themed printables. Simply print at home and decorate around the tv or snack station with them! Perfect for last minute decorating.
5) Award your Guests
Who says the winning team is the only one who gets a trophy? Make your party stand out from the rest by handing out football trophies. Have it set up so whoever comes to the party that roots for the winning team takes home a small standard football trophy. Or give a bigger football trophy to the person who guesses the winning team and the final score. We recommend our shooting star football trophy. Have a laugh with fantasy football trophies too. You can reminisce on fantasy football by giving fantasy football trophies to the winner and loser of your leagues if they are going to be at the party. For last place, we recommend our last place toilet trophy. And for first place we recommend this fantasy football winner trophy! Have fun watching the game and plan a memorable party to watch Super Bowl LI.
