The month of October is filled with anticipation leading up to Halloween- the night kids dress up as gruesome ghouls to wander jack-o-lantern lit streets, while teens and young adults let loose by dressing up in hilarious or absurd (at times risqué) costumes to get a good laugh out of their friends.
By and large, Halloween is defined by “Trick-or-Treating.” Children dress up in costumes, as witches, vampires, zombies, or monsters, go door to door in neighborhoods demanding candy, in turn offering a “trick” to the neighbor if they have no treats to give.
But what if you’re a bit older and prefer spending the night with friends inside a haunted house instead of wandering the spooky streets? Here’s a frighteningly fun game you can play in your creepy condo…
Halloween Costume Contest
Costume contests are a simple way to add some friendly competition to your Halloween party. Be sure to let attendees know beforehand that there will be a costume contest. This gives them encouragement and time to prepare the most creative, funny or creepy costume. If you can’t come up with a creative idea for your costume, you can always reference popular horror movies such as The Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street, or Scream.
Each partygoer casts a vote for their top three favorite costumes, excluding their own. You can also break out the contest into categories, for example: Scariest Costume, Funniest Costume, Best Couple Costume, and so on. If you have a close, familiar group of friends, don’t be afraid to hand out Worst Costume of the Night Award!

And the award goes to…
1) Grand Prize
“Pumpkin Tombstone Award”
Standing at 10” tall, the Pumpkin Tombstone Award is one of our most popular awards. This jet-black gravestone replica comes with full color printing. The carved pumpkin is iconic for all things Halloween. If you’d like another image, just upload your photo or clipart. You can put anything on this tombstone!
2) Runner Up Trophy
“Monster Victory Halloween Insert Trophy”
The Monster Victory Halloween Insert Trophy makes for a fantastic runner’s up trophy. Packing tons of character, this totally out of control monster award is strikingly detailed. You can choose from one of our stock Halloween insert stickers or upload your favorite photo from the party!
3) Participation Award
“Zombie Halloween Trophy”
The Zombie Halloween trophy features a lurching, gold plastic zombie on top of a black marble base. The undead tend to travel in hoards, this makes for a great participation trophy for everyone at the costume party.
4) Worst Costume/No Costume
“Last Place Toilet Insert Award”
This Last Place Toilet Insert Award is for that person that “forgot” to wear a costume or just didn’t try at all. This is a great award to include someone in the contest, even if they weren’t expecting it!
Halloween is a great holiday to get creative while being scary or silly. K2 Awards & Apparel looks forward to sending out your Halloween contest trophies this year and every year. From all of us K2 to you, we hope you have a spooky and safe Halloween!
